LIBRARY CLOSURE: The Pleasanton Library is temporarily closed.

The City of Pleasanton is committed to protecting the health of its community and limiting the spread of COVID-19. To adhere to the Alameda County Health Department's order to shelter in place issued March 16, all City of Pleasanton offices are temporarily closed and city government meetings have been suspended. We will work to conduct essential business directly impacting health and safety. Please visit the city's COVID-19 site for the latest updates as well as a link to the Alameda County order.

The 2020 Summer Reading Program: May 30 - August 2

Join us for the Summer Reading Program 2020! This year's theme, Dig Deeper, invites readers on an adventure of investigation and discovery. Also, be sure to check for updates on our Virtual Library and Recreation Center, where you can participate in online programs and explore various at-home activities.

The Library facility is closed for now, but we are still here to help. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions:

How do I return materials when the library is closed?

Beginning Monday, May 25, 2020, the library book drop will be open to accept returned library materials only. Donations will not be accepted. Items will be cleared from accounts over the next few days.

What happens to my library book (movie, audiobook) that is on hold?

We are freezing all holds through the closure period and saving your books for you. When the library re-opens you will be able to pick up holds.

While we understand this may delay holds for patrons still waiting for materials, our staff will be purchasing additional copies of popular items to shorten wait times.

I have a Link+ item on order, on hold or to return.

The Link+ service has been paused during the facility closure. Please keep your Link+ items at home until the library re-opens and we will make exceptions to Link+ fees due to unusual circumstances.

Are you still accepting book donations?

Out of an abundance of caution for public health and safety, we must decline any donations through the end of the year 2020. Thank you for your understanding.

What other library services are available while the building is closed?

The library offers digital resources, eBooks and streaming content for all ages and interests. Visit the library’s website and click on the “eBooks / Streaming / Research” tab on the left. Be sure to explore the new 2020 Summer Reading Game online reading challenge for a chance to earn prizes!

What if I need to get a library card?

Getting a new library card has never been easier! Visit the Library website to apply online for an eCard to access digital resources, streaming videos, eBooks and more!.

I think my library card is expired. How can I renew it?

Good news! The Library has renewed all expired library cards so community members can continue to access digital resources.

Can I still contact the library?

Absolutely! Even with the facility closure, phone lines are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (excluding holidays), with library staff that would love to help you discover online resources, provide reading recommendations, assist with simple research and answer your questions.
